PTSA members verify the accuracy of the PTSA financial books and records of the financial officer, assuring the general membership that the funds are being managed per state regulations. This committee meets in the summer.
Members help set up, run bookfairs, and pack up at the end. Bookfairs are held two to three times each school year. You can help with one aspect of the bookfair or several. There are morning and afternoon shifts for each day of the bookfair.
Members coordinate the Box Tops for Education fundraising program. Formerly a labels-based program, Box Tops for Education is largely an electronic program now. Committee members promote the program.
Delegates to the PTA Council attend Baltimore County PTA Council meetings
representing the local unit as a voting member and report back Council actions at our monthly PTSA board meetings. Two delegates are needed.
Members plan and execute one or more PTSA fundraising activities throughout the school year in support of PHMS PTSA programs and objectives.
Members set up and clean up for supported school functions and events throughout the school year such as
American Education Week, concerts, etc.
Organizes the annual PTSA membership drive at the start of the school year and supports membership promotion, tracking, and reporting throughout the year.
Selected by the PTSA Executive Board, this three-person committee is active in the spring. It assists with finding qualified candidates for officer and committee positions prior to elections in May.
This committee researches and provides recommendations for advocacy projects, promoting coordination between PHMS PTSA, the school, families and community.
This parent attends the monthly PTSA meeting at Perry Hall High School on the first Tuesday of every month, and reports pertinent information back to parents at PHMS PTSA’s monthly meeting.
This committee copies resource materials for teachers for distribution to students. Volunteers work in the school office on an as needed basis during school hours.
This committee promotes and coordinates the annual National PTA Reflections Arts competition. It works with staff and students, files forms, and follows entries through the competition, which starts at the school level. The coordinator solicits local judges for the school competition, creates awards, etc.
The committee arranges and promotes monthly restaurant fundraising nights at area restaurants throughout the school year.
Members review applications for scholarships from eligible former PHMS students (local high school graduating seniors who are current high school PTSA members). Committee members choose the
candidates and present the scholarships at high school ceremonies, if needed.
Attends BCPS school board meetings and other meetings to advocate for the special
education families at PHMS.
Members sell T-shirts, sweatshirts and other clothing during school and PTSA events to promote school spirit. They distribute marketing materials, order forms, and products as needed.
Star Search duties involve auditions, dress rehearsal and show preparation for the PTSA’s annual student talent show. Help is
needed during school lunch shifts and on designated nights to sell tickets, collect tickets, coordinate/sell concessions, distribute programs, and assist with other duties during rehearsal and show nights.
Golden Scholar
This committee recognizes the academic achievements of students by issuing rewards at the close of each academic quarter to those who make honor roll. The committee solicits prizes, usually gift card and coupon donations, and handles their distribution each quarter.
Red Bag Award
This committee prepares and distributes a Red Bag that is awarded to approximately 80-90 students each month. The award is given to students by faculty members
to reward good behavior, positive attitude, outstanding effort, etc. as determined by the faculty member. Staff may nominate one student per month, and students may only receive one award per year.
These volunteers provide staff with tokens of appreciation throughout the school year and plan a week of teacher and staff appreciation activities during National PTA – Teacher Appreciation Week each spring. Committee duties involve soliciting donations and planning activities for more than 100 staff members.
Coordinates volunteer sign-up sheets for 6th grade orientation and back-to-school nights, and distributes completed lists to PTSA committee chairs and coordinators. Assists with finding
volunteers for specific needs/events throughout the year.
Keeps the PTSA website up-to-date with current information about PHMS PTSA and school events, fundraisers, key dates, etc.
